robots.txt generator for stores
Choose your platform and which crawlers to allow, then copy a robots.txt made for stores.
Cart, checkout and account pages should stay out of search results. Run a free audit to see what else your store needs.
Questions
Does Shopify let me edit robots.txt?
Yes. Add a robots.txt.liquid template to your theme. The generator gives you that version for Shopify.
Will blocking AI crawlers hurt my search ranking?
The crawlers listed here are separate from Googlebot. Blocking them does not remove you from Google Search, but it can keep your pages out of those AI products.
Where does the file go?
At the root of your domain, so it opens at yourstore.com/robots.txt.
